The Pink Review

I love fresh home-made pesto. It’s super easy to make and tastes so much better than store bought. Plus, you can control the ingredients. This recipe is vegan and healthy. Basil has traditionally been used in Indian medicine as a treatment for asthma, diabetes and stress. It is high in vitamin K, which is plays an important role in blood clotting, building strong bones and protects against heart disease. Another important ingredient in pesto is garlic, and the raw garlic in this recipe has antibacterial properties. Instead of cheese, I use nutritional yeast flakes. It has a cheesy flavour and is a great substitute. It is high in B vitamins, folic acid, selenium, zinc, and protein. It is essential in many vegan and vegetarians diets as it contains vitamin B12.

1 bunch of basil

olive oil (how much depends on the texture you want)

1 tablespoon nutritional yeast flakes
